Richard Scanlan, MD, FCAP, works for the Oregon Health Sciences University (OHSU) in Portland, Oregon. He serves on the CAP Board of Directors and has been Chairman of the College of American Pathologist (CAP) Council on Accreditation since November 2019. He has been active in laboratory accreditation since 1986 with almost 200 accreditation inspections, many in international labs. He joined OHSU Healthcare in 2001 after 15 years of community practice. He has also been Laboratory Medical Director for Planned Parenthood of Oregon for over 20 years.
Dr. Scanlan’s primary clinical responsibilities include coverage of transfusion service, cytology and frozen sections.
