Kalisha Hill, MD, MBA, FCAP, FASCP, a board-certified anatomic and clinical pathologist specializing in multidisciplinary breast pathology, is chief medical officer of St. Mary’s Hospital Kankakee, Illinois, and medical director of its pathology and clinical laboratory services. Dr. Hill authored the hospital’s COVID-19 Clinician Testing Guidelines. She is owner and president of her independent medical practice Mediexperts, LLC, and is a Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA) director in Florida.
Dr. Hill is president-elect of the College of American Pathologists (CAP), previously serving as chair of its Council on Education, and the Undergraduate Medical Education Curriculum Project and Future Pathologists Project teams. She is a past PathPAC Board chair and former vice chair of its Audit and Cancer committees. Continuously active in the CAP for over 25 years, she is an author of its breast carcinoma and gastrointestinal carcinoma cancer protocols and a former delegate to its House of Delegates. Dr. Hill also previously served as treasurer and president of the Illinois Society of Pathologists.
In 2018, Dr. Hill received the CAP Distinguished Patient Care Award for her active engagement in community health-related activities and The Pearl Foundation Trailblazer Award for Youth Empowerment and Mentorship in 2022. She was recognized on the 2024 Pathology Power List and received the AMA Women Physicians Section Inspiration Award. Most recently, Dr. Hill was named one of Chicago Defender’s 2026 Standout Healthcare Leaders. A national media consultant, Dr. Hill educates viewers on topics ranging from public health risks to artificial intelligence.
Dr. Hill provides practice management and medical guidance to physicians and patients on a variety of issues, offering case reviews to give patients coordinated care, personalized lifestyle change guidance and treatment next steps to maximize response to therapy.
Dr. Hill is an Emory alumnus, attended medical school at the University of Illinois at Chicago, completed her residency in anatomic and clinical pathology at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, and obtained her Masters in Business Administration in healthcare management from Western Governors University.
Throughout her career, Dr. Hill has been actively engaged in community health-related activities, sponsoring Cancer Support Center community events, the Speaking of Women’s Health Conference, and the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life. Further, Dr. Hill has participated as a nursing education physician panelist, in the UICCOM Careers in Medicine series’ student career events as a physician executive panelist, as a Chicago Public Schools student science fairs judge at the Museum of Science and Industry, National Youth Leadership Forum annual speaker, and created the “ask the pathologist” group forums for patients.
Dr. Hill is a wife and mother of adult twins, one enrolled in medical school and the other an accountant. She serves on Uplifted Care Hospice’s Board of Directors and as a mentor for the I Am Abel Foundation on behalf of the CAP. Dr. Hill is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and Lake Shore (IL) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, which focuses on community programs for youth and adults, including educational and health services. In 2025, Dr. Hill published her memoir, Pinnacles: Visible and Invisible.
In 2025, Dr. Hill was elected to a two-year term as the CAP’s president-elect with a subsequent two-year term, beginning in fall 2027, to serve as its 40th president.
