Daniel D. Rhoads, MD, FCAP

Daniel D. Rhoads, MD, FCAP, began his career in laboratory medicine as a medical laboratory scientist where he performed patient testing in the clinical laboratory. Now as a physician, he serves as the Section Head of Microbiology at the Cleveland Clinic's Main Campus. He is passionate about providing excellent medical laboratory care to patients. His academic interests are broad and include biofilm infections, phage therapy, prion disease, rapid diagnostic tools, culture-free detection and characterization of microbes, antimicrobial resistance, emerging infections, and using artificial intelligence tools in laboratory testing. Dr. Rhoads works closely with many in vitro diagnostic (IVD) manufacturers to help to design and evaluate novel diagnostic tools. He has served as Vice Chair of the CAP's Diagnostic Immunology and Flow Cytometry Committee and currently serves as the Vice Chair of the Microbiology Committee.

Dr. Rhoads can speak on sexually transmitted infections, antimicrobial resistance (AMR), emerging pathogens, microbiology, SARS-CoV-2, infections, viruses, flu, and RSV.
