Tess Karre, MD, FCAP, received her Bachelors of Science in Medical Technology from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. She worked as a clinical laboratory scientist before receiving her MD from Creighton University in 2004. Dr. Karre completed her Anatomic and Clinical Pathology residency at the Penrose-St. Francis Pathology Program in Colorado Springs CO in 2008. She completed her Microbiology fellowship training at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester MN in 2009. From 2009-2011 she was an Assistant Professor at the University of Colorado and Director of the Clinical Microbiology and Molecular laboratories at Denver Health Medical Center. From 2011-2024 she was director of Microbiology and Pathologist at Methodist Hospital and Children’s Nebraska in Omaha. She is active in several national organizations including CAP where she is on the Microbiology Committee and the American Society for Microbiology where she is a member of the Evidence Based Laboratory Medicine Practice Guidelines Committee.
