The College of American Pathologists honors Dr. Bobbi S. Pritt with a Governor of the Board Award at the CAP Annual Meeting in New Orleans, LA

New Orleans, LA– At the meeting of the membership of the College of American Pathologists (CAP), Bobbi S. Pritt, MD, MSc, FCAP, was inaugurated as a governor of the board during the CAP annual meeting in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Dr. Pritt has served on many CAP committees, councils and task forces. Most notably, Dr. Pritt served on the board of governors, as chair of the Microbiology committee and a member of the Artificial Intelligence committee, Council on Scientific Affairs, Finance committee, and the Cybersecurity Project Team.

“I’m honored and excited to serve the CAP, pathologists and patients as a governor on the board,” states Dr. Pritt. “As a reelected governor, I’d like to increase awareness of pathologists as clinicians and essential members of the patient health care team and support our efforts in informatics and pathology innovation.”

Dr. Pritt received her medical degree from the University of Vermont College of Medicine. She then completed her residency at the University of Vermont Medical Center where she served as chief resident, followed by fellowship in Medical Microbiology at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. She also received a master’s of science in parasitology from the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine at the University of London.

In addition to the CAP, Dr. Pritt is a member of the American Society for Microbiology, the American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, the American Society for Clinical Pathology, the Binford-Dammin Society of Infectious Diseases Pathologists, American Society of Parasitologists, and Sigma Xi.

Currently, Dr. Pritt is a professor of laboratory medicine and pathology, chair of the division of Clinical Microbiology, medical director of Clinical Parasitology and Vector-borne Diseases Laboratory, head of Infectious Diseases Pathology, and one of the chief physician media correspondents for the department of laboratory medicine and pathology at Mayo Clinic.
