Orlando, Fla. (September 13, 2025)—Over 25 years of service on several councils and committees has prepared Kalisha A. Hill, MD, MBA, FCAP, for her next position as president-elect of the College of American Pathologists (CAP). She was sworn in during the CAP’25 meeting of the membership on Saturday, Sept. 13 in Orlando, FL.
Dr. Hill historically chaired PathPAC, the Future Pathologist Project Team, and the Future Pathologist Ad Hoc Committee; served as vice chair of the Residents Forum Executive Committee and the Cancer Committee; and contributed consecutively as a member of numerous other committees.
Dr. Hill served two terms as a Governor on the CAP Board of Governors and during her tenure chaired the Council on Education and the Undergraduate Medical Education Project Team. She also served as vice chair of the Audit Committee and the Annual Meeting Strategy Execution Steering Committee. She also served on the Executive Committee, Council on Government and Professional Affairs, Finance Committee, and Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility Committee.
“Serving on every council during my CAP tenure has provided me with broad knowledge that I now bring to my role as President-Elect,” said Dr. Hill. “As Council on Education chair, I was proud to further the future pathologist initiatives, increasing exposure to this amazing medical specialty. Working collaboratively under the Council on Government and Professional Affairs, as PathPAC chair, I led an increase in donations, and as a founding member of the state pathology society workgroup, we expanded affiliate agreements and strengthened struggling medical societies.”
Serving as a Governor on the Board for the last five years, Dr. Hill has helped guide the organization’s strategic direction and priorities and will continue to serve the members of the organization as president-elect.
“My goal is to unite CAP members to advocate for our profession, grow our ranks, and expand opportunities for all pathologists,” shared Dr. Hill. “I am committed to boosting visibility, engaging our clinical colleagues, and inspiring the next generation of physicians to select pathology as their specialty of choice.”
Dr. Hill’s success in pathology is reflected in her career achievements and the many honors she has received. In 2024, she was awarded the Inspiration Award from the American Medical Association’s Women Physicians Section, as well as being named a Champion for Change on the Pathologist Power List. In 2020, she was recognized as a Physician of the Year at St. Mary’s Kankakee, where she currently serves as chief medical officer, as well as pathology department chair and medical director of anatomic pathology and clinical laboratory services.
Dr. Hill recently published her memoir, Pinnacles: Visible and Invisible. Her story is presented with grace, humility, and heartfelt gratitude, inviting readers into the inner world of a leader who rose to the presidency—forged by challenges she encountered along the way.
