Trumpet Award

NORTHFIELD, Ill. (Oct. 12, 2023) — The College of American Pathologists (CAP) was awarded the Silver Trumpet Award by the Publicity Club of Chicago. This recognition celebrates the CAP’s innovative multi-channel communications campaign that aimed to drive awareness and action toward reducing health disparities across diverse communities.

The campaign demonstrated innovation and excellence by strategically integrating various elements, including scientific insights, policy advocacy, public health initiatives, media relations, videography, community service, and in-person meetings with legislative representatives. These efforts successfully heightened awareness and inspired action to address health disparities within diverse communities.

“We are honored to receive this recognition for our work to address health disparities,” said CAP President Donald S. Karcher, MD, FCAP. “This campaign demonstrates the power of communication to educate, inspire, and mobilize people to take action to create a healthier and more equitable society.”

One of the campaign's key communication objectives showcased direct care through cancer screening and health education in medically underserved populations through the See, Test, & Treat® (ST&T) program. This initiative is administered by the CAP Foundation, the philanthropic arm of the CAP, dedicated to nurturing the future leaders of pathology and delivering high-quality healthcare to underserved communities.

The Silver Trumpet Award was presented during the 65th Annual Golden Trumpet Awards Ceremony, which was held on October 4 in Chicago. These awards honor the best of communications, marketing, and public relations in the Midwest.
