Northfield, Ill– Aaron Auerbach, MD, MPH, FCAP, was appointed as a governor to the Board of Governors for the College of American Pathologists (CAP), filling a vacancy created when Kalisha A. Hill, MD, MBA, FCAP, was elected president-elect.
“To me, pathology is the very center of each and every disease, so in medicine it is the embodiment of everything,” Dr. Auerbach said. “I am interested in advancing patient care in pathology and am engaged in the big data found in digital pathology.”
Throughout his career, Dr. Auerbach has worked to improve how quickly and accurately complex diseases are diagnosed, especially those affecting the blood and gastrointestinal tract. He has also played a key role in educating future pathologists through lectures, publications, and training programs.
He currently serves as the director of research, repository, and education and is a senior hematopathologist at the Joint Pathology Center, with expertise in gastrointestinal, molecular, and hematopathology. Dr. Auerbach has also supported initiatives to enhance laboratory quality and patient safety.
