Bobbi Pritt, MD, MS, FCAP, discusses foodborne intestinal illnesses caused by Cyclospora cayetanensis. “Produce that is imported into the United States is the most common course of cyclosporiasis in the United States,” said Dr. Pritt. “Cases of cyclosporiasis can occur at any time in the United States, but outbreaks usually occur in the summer when large amounts of fresh produce, such as cilantro, raspberries, and lettuce are imported.”
