WASHINGTON, DC—The College of American Pathologists (CAP) issued the following statement following the latest bipartisan effort in Congress to address future Medicare reimbursement cuts patient services provided by pathologists, other specialty physicians, and nonphysician providers:
“The CAP appreciates the work of Reps. Bobby Rush, Michael Burgess, Ami Bera, Larry Bucshon, and Roger Marshall, to draw attention to the steep Medicare payment cuts to pathology and other specialty services in 2021. Their leadership, along with the support of roughly 160 other members of the House of Representatives, Democrats and Republicans, is commendable at a time when this country can ill afford to weaken patient access to care and cut payment to providers serving on the frontlines of the COVID-19 pandemic. We urge Congress to stop these cuts before the end of the year and further protect seniors’ access to the medical services they need in the years ahead.”
